Would a Non-T-Bird/Cougar/Mark VIII build be ok to post in this section?

I have a Teksid block with Terminator heads and Mach1 intake in an early Fox. Not a Mustang, it's a Mercury Zephyr.
I never thought about posting up, but another member asked so i figured i'd just ask first if it would be acceptable here and where i should post it?

Thanks!

I remember those, they were the merc version of the fairmont. The police cars had 3.55 lockers, on a 351 engine, iirc.

A guy I knew in HS showed up one day driving his girlfriends car; it was a brown fairmont. I noticed it was a police car the first time I saw it, lol. Dude was a drug dealer, and the car was loaded with surveillance gear. :) Sure enough, a month later, they busted everyone that was in that car, lol.

I could put on a spotlight and special orange plates lol. Who was it in community that had a spot light on his bird? I doubt I will but I liked that

My dad had a red 1978 Fairmont box-top when I was a kid. I would be interested to watch the build.

I wrote 351 pretty easy; is that true, in '79? or was it a 5.0?
EDIT: it was a 5.0. The 'std engine' was a 2300 4 cyl pinto motor, lol. Bad as those were, they were more reliable than an ecoboost. I had one in a 1996 escort with a 5 speed, lol. And an alpine.

Well we all know each other here. Still fun to see the other kinds of things we work on Kidd7 and I also have Explorers. I have an old 78 Ford Country Squire wagon that I need to make room on the stand to assemble the 460 for it. When the time comes I'll post up some stuff.

Yes, you definitely need to post it here. On FEP if it isn't a Mustang and/or Coyote swapped then nobody notices and you are relegated to the "other" section of the forum. I like the site, but I'm a little salty over the management (or lack thereof) of it.

351 was in the police panthers, Fairmont was 302

Agreed, being a “Ford guy” invariably means “Mustang guy” to most supposed Ford guys. Everything gets lumped into other be it these cars, fairmonts, Torinos Fairlanes and all Mercurys and Lincolns. I’ve attended a couple “all ford shows”, and I’ve never felt more alone :boohoo:

There was an impromptu car meet just before night, and my favorite take away was the torino for sure

Edit: I'll add though that there was a good close focus hatch bunch there as well, they were cool

I didn't know if there was a "readers' rides" section, or an "other Fords" section on here?

I loved those old wagons! IIRC, that was fords last popup headlights. The tbirds and cougars of that era also rocked those. Vacuum operated, iirc.

That is correct! Big vacuum actuators. Everything worked 15years ago. I'm afraid I'm going to have much work to do once I get the engine in it.

I was the only kid in the neighborhood that could ride in the very back seat, looking backwards, without getting carsick, lol.
Were those the ones with the 5 way rear gate? Opened left or right, and folded down. Damndest thing I ever saw. Someone had one, but I don't remember who had it...

Well my 78 Ford does not have the 5 way gate. It folds down or opens on the right side.
