Yes, but I cut the wires at the connector since it's shared with the illumination.

Correct. Just two wires coming out of the shroud at the bottom, about 6" long I'm guessing.

It's one 4-pin connector for the O/D button and the shift indicator light (at least on the '97; I think I have seen different connectors on earlier models in the junkyards).
