It's not a 4.6, but an ecoboost ford truck. I'm working on getting him to put a 4.6 in it, to replace the "300hp" 2300 with a turbo. It sent one of the rod bottoms thru the block today; as they were putting it down off the flatbed, he handed me a piece of a rod bolt boss. 
Yes, that's the bottom of the rod. Damdest thing, the metal was black in color, thru and thru. It looked like the standard ford powdered metal bs, but totally black. wtf are they making rods out of now? I'll try to borrow it for pix.
