What did you do with your Thunderbird Today?

Why trunk in = transmission? I can’t think of a single thing I did in a garage that I didn’t have the car front in for

Going by the title of your suspension thread at TSTSNBN, you know the answer.

Not really, not anymore.

I need to make just a build thread here and port over all those threads and images I posted on the dead site.

The way my garage is setup. Whatever side of the car is pushed up against the wall, I don't have sufficient space to get at unless my car is partially out of the garage.

As this build is expected to take a month or two, having my garage partially open is a no go. So the side that is at the garage door, will be the side will be worked on.

Well, the transmission makes the car mobile @CDsDontBurn ...

This. Right. Here.

Anybody know what is the diameter of the rack and pinion bolt?

Might try and make some solid bushings just need the bolt diameter. Have a set of maximum motorsports solids for all mustangs, but the bolt hole is way too small.

Hole diameter of the stock sleeves are .66”, so probably a M16 bolt

Mustangs are the wrong source unless you modified them(which should be doable with the MM ones), Pintos use the same exact bushings and sleeves we use

Walter told me once the play I was bitching about was a.1mm play in an inner tie rod, lol. I had swapped everything else, lol. I took it to him as a last resort,

I got these for 40$ a lil while ago, tried to install and unfortunately our bolt is a lot more massive than the mustang ones.

so our bolts are .66” thick?? Next time I hit that shop I’ll hand em over with the size of the bolt hole needed. Thanks!

Changed my front pads on my 97.found out the drivers side bottom caliber pin was stuck... Lots of Pb blaster and a good bit of brute force and ignorance later I got it out cleaned it up, some anti-seize and good to go. So I did the other 3 like that while I was at it...

Just an oil and filter change today, Mobil 1 5w-30 and Motorcraft FL-820S filter. Only put 1,000 miles on it over the past year. 107,000 total. Battery was reading 11.5 volts so put the charger on it which brought it back up to 12.5.. it's probably time for a new battery,

put upper and lower ball joints, alignment and some much needed tires on my SC. what a difference I haven't driven it much since but the little i did drive it what a big improvement

JB welded the lower part of the V brace. I noticed some of the spot welds were ripped off, sanded down contact areas. Was going to weld it on but wanted to try and see how the JB puts up with the stresses, since it has a lot more surface area to grab on too.

Just took a bunch of pictures of it today. Nice evening in the park. Somehow the setting sun produces a light which makes the paint look far more glossy than it really is. I adore this car! That wide rear end! And the silver shift bezel is a keeper, though I may redo it better by using a Glowforge laser cutter (if I can find someone who let's me use it).

Nice pics! Your car looks like it wants to go through the park. That'd be a really pretty drag strip. How much money would it cost to drive through there and park at the center of that towers entrance?

Drove it to FedEx...but this actually wasn't today; I had forgotten about posting it.

So I'm in the FedEx store talking to one associate when another associate comes up to me and asks: "Is your car a Ford or a Geo?"

I'm temporarily stunned, and then I go: "A whaaaat?!"

He repeats his question, and I confirm that it's indeed a Ford. Then I ask: "But what's a Geo?" Now I do know Geos (sort of rebadged Japanese economy cars sold by GM), but I wanted him to tell me.

He goes on to explain to me that Geo was a Ford brand for really sporty cars.

 Did he mean Mercury? Or Merkur? But sporty? Whatever the case, Geo? Really?

Only sporty Ford thing I can vaguely find a connection to with Geo is SVO with the 3 letters and ending in o. That guy’s out to lunch.

We used to build the Geo / Chevy Prizm alongside the Toyota Corolla, before it was superceded by the Pontiac Vibe / Corolla - here in Fremont, CA. (NUMMI plant, now Tesla ). 😉
